This lockdown art project began as a personal response to a time of global uncertainty. With routines interrupted and noise replaced by silence, the studio became a sanctuary — a place to work through the stillness, anxiety, and longing for connection.
Each sculpture was created from reclaimed wood already in the studio, making the process entirely dependent on what was available. The limitations became part of the beauty. Shapes evolved more intuitively, textures more tactile, and the pace slowed — revealing a deeper layer of presence in the work.
Rather than chasing a concept, the process became about listening — to the material, to the mood, and to the moment. Each form in this series carries a quiet strength — shaped not only by tools and hands, but by time, solitude, and reflection.
This lockdown art project became more than a creative outlet; it was a form of grounding, healing, and reimagining.
Minimalism meets Mother Nature
These times are strange and unsettling. The whole world is on pause. A time for reflection and an opportunity to look inward. A time to take notice and appreciate the simple things in life. A time to be grateful for what we have …. and for those around us that help make our days a little bit better
Organic Modern Design
Immersing myself in the making of something is incredibly calming. It’s something I’m really trying to do more regularly as the restlessness of self-isolation and social distancing kick in.
“When my husband and I were conducting renovations in our living room in newly bought house 10 years ago I discovered what most people try to find their entire lives – my true meaning and purpose. Our project consisted of a wall filled with small wooden chunks assembled into a playful mosaic, which turned out to be a true masterpiece. And I suddenly realized I can’t stop doing this. I absolutely fall in love with wood. I just transformed it in smaller pieces which could be easily moved around and could be hanged in any other walls. Ever since that moment…”
