Wabi Sabi – Art of Imperfection.

Wabi Sabi Style Wall Sculpture
Wabi Sabi style wall sculpture “Mermaids” 24″x24″

Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that includes the acceptance and appreciation of simplicity, the ordinary, and the imperfect and it can be described as finding beauty in things that are impermanent and incomplete. Wabi-Sabi is an aesthetic, a state of mind, a mix of emotions, and a way of perceiving life . . .

Wabi Sabi style, the elegance of simplicity.
Wabi Sabi Art “Laguna” 18″x24″

Wabi-sabi concept reminds me that we are all transient beings on this planet, that our bodies, as well as the material world around us, are in the process of returning to dust. Through Wabi-sabi, I learned to embrace the beauty of the old and the mystical, where the presence of cracks and scratches are considered to be symbolic of the passing of time, weather…

Wabi Sabi Wood Art “Old Barn” 24″x24″

I love it, it so perfectly fits how I like to work and create. I have always been drawn to weathered objects that have character, that symbolize a sense of timelessness and history, each with their own story and season. I find this practice to be a beautiful, meditative one that brings me great calm and peace.

Wabi Sabi style, the blend of simplicity and sophistication.
Wabi Sabi Art “Another Universe” 24″x30″

The fundamental principle of wabi sabi concept is a connection to earth and natural materials, and it focuses on organic textures and earthy hues. I feel a strong connection with nature when working with wood. Texture imitates a living earth, while the soft scent of wooden surfaces takes me away to the forest.

Wabi-sabi style wall art “Cascade”

I use recycled wood for my work, which I collect by myself in different places. Wood accumulates and radiates powerful energy. When you touch wood, it seems to be alive and breathing. The intricate grain patterns tell a story. Knots, little cracks, and every single piece is unique with its own history and memory, and exceptional beauty in the marks left by time.

Bringing a little wabi sabi into your place can warm it up, making the atmosphere of your home more earthy and natural. The beauty of wabi sabi style is that it’s always evolving and something special and unique.

Modern Shapes, the blend of simplicity and sophistication.

sculptural statement art, wood blocks assemblage inspired by Louise Nevelson

In contemporary design it’s not unusual to see a mixture of different shapes and forms, blending styles creates bold accents and generates symbolic meaning throughout the space. Think of adding an art piece, that was designed and created to make a grand statement. Highly distinctive contemporary wood wall sculpture, the unique composition of intricate shape formations will add a character and incredible feature in your place.

No room is too small for artwork. Go big, think abstract and try the new shapes. The more unique, the bigger the statement when it comes to wall decor and art.

Who says sculptures always need to stand on their own? Hanging a piece of sculptural art adds texture and sophisticated dimension to a room, while making a statement at the same time.

Acoustic Wall Art – Custom Art Commission. The Story behind a special project.

Custom Art Commission, Modern Wood Wall Sculpture “Laguna” 40″x60″ (two panels of 30″x40″ size jointed together)

Looking for a custom piece of art? You may want to invest in stunning one of a kind original artwork instead of the cheap mass-produced fake pieces from big chain stores. Whether you are already familiar with purchasing original artwork or not, not everybody knows that it’s always possible to commission a custom artwork directly from an artist. It’s a great option if you are looking for something unique and special.

Olga Oreshyna art studio, Toronto

This set was custom made for a specific location and needs. The client wanted to display something beautiful on a blank, tall wall that leads to a loft alongside their floating stairs and also to benefit for sound dampening, to meet both aesthetical and acoustical needs.

Working Process

Each single piece of wood is cut, shaped, detailed, carved, sanded and assembled by hand with passion, love and care. The assemblage is almost done and next step is a painting and fine finishing. Turquoise was chosen as colour preference.

Working Process

The first layer is always a wood protection. Acrylic painting is a next step. And then, hand sanding is applied to enhance wood grains and knots in order to show the real beauty of wood and emphasize the structure of shape formations. Last layer is fine finishing to protect the sculpture itself.

One of my favourite part to get pictures from a happy and completely satisfied clients. Great to see the pieces in their new home.
